Again you have to readup or ask people about the real rules, and if there is a confusion at the home office you can always pointout the correct rules so that you are not disadvantaged or inconvenienced.
They are very helpful over there, so be really nice to them but firmly point out if their requests are unreasonable within the stipulated (and written down) regulations.

I am sorry about the delayed response. I seem to have missed your comment somehow.
We actually booked 2 slots (2 appointments) as described and did manage to get PR without much of a hassle.
We were actually not trying to circumvent the home office rules or anything, it's just that these thing and systems are not very clear, and not very clearly laid down. For example the requirement for a letter from the employer or student status, when you apply for Dependent visa is very clear with the home office counter staff, and they even think that this is a requirement, but it is not because it's not clearly stated. They are very helpful and always stick to the clearly stated rules when you tell them that the written rules are different to what they think they are !

Hi,

Must admit, you have done a great job with this website. it really helped us for our Life in the uk test. Now having read your exp for ILR booking agree with you, that when we try to book appointment with dependant the appointments disappear. However I was wondering wouldn't two separate appointments mean 2 different applications. have you confirmed with HO that it will be fine to consider you guys together. I am in the same dilemma and was wondering if I could go the same path as you did. Please advise.

Once again..gr8 job on the website...
